Watch and ride is a beginner-focused program filmed in Canada. The curriculum is a solid beginner foundation,  but you can find the same beginner level curriculum in Shred School for a much cheaper cost and you get the entire intermediate/advanced/expert lessons that watch and ride has none of.

Buy recommendation: Get another program that includes the intermediate to advanced lessons in the cost, instead of having to pay extra like on watch and ride

Snowprofessor has some great basics, but is about 10 years old, and hasn’t been updated in years. The instructors are intermediate level snowboarders and teach beginner fundamentals, but not much past the intermediate skill level of riding.

If you’re looking for just some free basics and don’t want much beyond that, give it a go!

Buy recommendation: It’s free so no harm in checking it out, but it won’t take you too far past beginner fundamentals

While they have very good marketing, I can’t say the same for the program. When I tested out the program last year, it was a very old, short video (less than 30 seconds) that didn’t break down the trick in detail like some of the other lessons available online.

I can’t tell you how the lessons look this year because their YouTube channel doesn’t have a single sample lesson for you to test.

So I guess you have to ask yourself, do you want to pay before getting a single sample lesson to see if it’s any good? And why don’t they have a single video on their website pre-purchase? Maybe they’ll see this post and we’ll find out or get a taste of what they have to offer.

Buy Recommendation: Skip until they release some sample lessons to see if it’s any good

Online snowboard instructional videos
If you want an online snowboard school that is always updated, covers beginner through advanced riding, teaches you how to practice and the mindset behind the trick, an covers the mistakes you might make, BEFORE you make them, our #1 pick is Shred School.

Using archival footage, shred school shows the trick on different kinds of features, so you can see how it’s done in a variety of scenarios. Video lessons cover the most common falls that occur with each trick and how to prevent them.

Shred School has over 200 videos that will take you from complete beginner to backflip, from setting foot on the snow for the first time to riding in and winning snowboard competitions.

Runner up: Snowboard Addiction

While they don’t go into as much detail about the mindset behind the trick and potential mistakes you will make and don’t cover the backstory of the trick, Snowboard addiction does a good job of thoroughly covering most snowboard tricks. Their video quality is great and their instructors know how to shred.

Just watch out, they don’t have a clear structure on which tricks to learn in what order so it can be a little overwhelming to properly create building blocks to learn at maximum speed.

For the best value for your money, I’d steer clear of the rest of the schools on the list, which either only cover one skill level and then stop (beginner lessons for example, without then teaching intermediate snowboarding) or they haven’t been updated in many many years and are outdated.

One thing I’d really recommend is, learn to snowboard from someone who knows how to ride park (jumps, rails, etc…) even if you don’t plan on learning how to ride park yourself. The consequences are real in park riding, and you have to have proper form to “scale” your riding up to large features.

You can get away with the bad form if you’re just riding down a groomed slope, but not off 80 ft jumps. Because of this, park riders tend to have “proper form” out on the rest of the mountain compared to riders who have never put it to the test.

The only two online snowboard schools above that I can vouch actually know how to ride park are EdShreds.Com and Snowboard addiction. The rest seem to be intermediate instructors who never learned how to ride park, which is ok, but not necessarily who you want to learn from if you want to get good at snowboarding.
